Guidelines for Creating Artwork for Your Release on WAVBEE

Guidelines for Creating Artwork for Your Release

Your music deserves eye-catching artwork that adheres to industry standards. At WAVBEE, we want your release to look its best and make a lasting impression. To help you create artwork that meets our requirements and ensures a smooth distribution process, follow these guidelines:

1. Text Restrictions:

  • The only text allowed on the artwork includes the release name, primary and featuring artist names, and the name and/or logo of the record label. Any additional text will result in rejection.

2. Image Quality:

  • Ensure your cover art is of the highest quality. It should be clear, sharp, and free from any issues such as blurriness, pixelation, distortion, misalignment, or other quality problems.

3. Accuracy:

  • The information on your artwork should match the metadata as closely as possible without any abbreviations. Ensure that any text or images on the cover are justified in the metadata. If it’s a single from an album, the album name should not appear on the cover unless it’s justified in the metadata.

4. Dimensions and Format:

  • The cover art must be square with a proportion of 1:1.
  • Minimum size: 3000 x 3000 pixels.
  • Maximum size: 5000 x 5000 pixels.
  • Accepted formats: JPG or PNG.
  • Use RGB color mode (CMYK is not available).
  • Keep the file size under 10 MB.

5. Avoid White Covers:

  • Full-white covers are not permitted as they can be misinterpreted as errors.

6. Excluded Content:

  • Your cover art should not contain:
    • Website addresses or references to websites selling music.
    • Mentions of social media platforms.
    • Logos of stores or services related to entertainment.
    • References to physical formats.
    • Phone numbers or email addresses.
    • Tracklisting.
    • Descriptions or artist biographies.
    • Pricing information.
    • References to the format, such as “Online,” “CD,” or “Compact Disc.”
    • Mentions of video or audio formats like “Stereo” or “Mono.”
    • References to missing content, e.g., “Includes DVD” or “Includes Lyrics.”
    • Expressions like “All Rights Reserved” or “Registered Product.”

7. Translations and Special Characters:

  • Avoid using non-occidental or special characters as mere ornaments unless they have a clear connection with the content. Side-by-side translations or transliterations are not allowed.

8. Misleading Information:

  • The cover art must accurately represent the content of the release and not be misleading. Depicting an artist who is not part of the album may require licenses or lead to rejection.

9. Parental Advisory Tag:

  • If the artwork is explicit, the Parental Advisory tag should be added. Explicit content should also be marked as such in the metadata.

10. Content Restrictions:

  • Cover art should not contain racist, pornographic, or violent content, nor should it glorify or trivialize violence.

11. Offensive Symbolism:

  • Avoid any symbolism that may offend specific groups or ethnicities, such as Nazi symbolism.

12. Logos, Images, and Brands:

  • All logos must be justified in the metadata and can be related to artists, producers, labels, or other relevant information. Documentation may be required for registered brands, private images, or references to companies or institutions to demonstrate authorization.

By adhering to these guidelines, you can create cover art that not only complies with WAVBEE’s requirements but also enhances the visual appeal of your music release. If you have any questions or need further clarification, don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team. We’re here to support your music journey every step of the way.
